Where can I consult special collections and archives?
Answer
All special collections items, archives and pre-1850 books ordered from the stack must be consulted in the Special Collections Reading Room.
The Special Collections Reading Room, also called the Palaeography Room, is located on the 4th floor of Senate House Library. When you arrive in the Reading Room, please visit the staffed enquiries desk, where you will be asked to sign in. First-time archive readers will be asked to complete an additional registration form.
The Reading Room is an invigilated space and slightly different rules apply from the rest of the library.
