How can I order special collections items?

Answer

Special collections items can be requested via the catalogue, over the phone or in person in the Special Collections Reading Room. Please note that you can only order up to 5 items at a time.

Ordering via the catalogue

If you want to order a special collections item via the catalogue, first click on the button "Book This Material".

You will then be prompted to log in to your Library Account with your Username (First Name, Last Name) and your Password (your library card barcode).

After you have logged in, you will be asked to chose the date and time you wish you consult the item and the date and time after which you no longer require the material.

If you are ordering a journal you can specify which volumes and what years of the run you would like to see in the note field further down on the page.

After you have filled in your details, click on the Submit button to finalize your request. You will then get a confirmation of your request on the following page.

If you have any troubles ordering items, get in touch with us via e-mail: shl.specialcollections@london.ac.uk or phone us under: + 44 (0)20 7862 8470. Or you can come and speak to us directly in the Special Collections Reading Room
